The project is a refurbishment and extension to an existing two level building on New North Roaf in Eden Terrace.
The existing structure is proposed to be stripped back to the existing shell with the insertion of new cores containing lifts and stairs as well as vertical services. The building is articulated as three connected blocks to provide identity for each apartment occupant.
Two new floors are added on top of the existing structure to create three levels in total of apartments in a mix of studio, one bedroom and two bedroom variations. The apartments are served by lifts located at the end of the development as well as the middle to minimize circulation areas and maximize habitable space. All apartments face north onto New North Road with generous balconies for each or face east onto Ruru St for the rear portion of the development.
Car parking utilizes and extends the existing car park accessed off Ruru Street and creates an outdoor terrace for all apartment dwellers.
The three blocks are clad in differing materials of timber cladding, metal grating and concrete. The lift cores and egress stairs are clad in folded metal sheeting for shade and privacy.
